India Preparation

The return to the motherland would be a good description for this trip. Having Indian origins I would have expected myself to have gone earlier in life but stories of Delhi Belly, hot climate, large crowds, and another hundred excuses led to a major delay. After 35 years of mental preparation I am ready for this adventure (LOL). So one of my "brother from another mother" has a cousin who is getting married in India. We both have on our bucket lists to go to an Indian wedding in India, so all the excuses were out the window and tickets booked. India has several hundred languages with 23 of them constitutionally recognized. Luckily for me I know 4 of the 23 official languages that is spoken. Might I add with a Fijian Indian dialect or as we call Findian. However after numerous Bollywood movies I have the local Hindi sorted.

So this is going to be one awesome adventure as the week before the wedding we are doing a road trip from Delhi to Agra to Jaipur. All the information I have is from 3 decades of Indian movies, Indian friends, some backpacker dudes, and the Shantaram Novel by Gregory Roberts.

So the following four cities will be the main destinations:

Delhi: Landing in Delhi and not sure what to expect besides the heat, large crowds, and some great food. Bukhara restuarant is one of the pit stops here which is quite famous in India.

Agra: Taj Mahal is very close and this is a mandatory stop for India.

Jaipur: Rajasthan is a beautiful place recommended by many, so this will be fun.

Hyderabad: The wedding location and a big palace is all I have on this city.
